Dr Brett’s Top Lifestyle Tip:
Making change all at once can be challenging so be gentle and kind to yourself. You may be able to take on a 12 weeks challenge and it will work. Others will find that too much too soon. Notice how you feel during your lifestyle change challenge, if you feel fitter, more energetic or your body looks leaner, your hormones are better. Make sure you pay attention. Then if you fall off the wagon that’s ok, but you now know what’s possible for you and there are ways of getting back on track. If many changes all at one are too much for you, just make one sustainable change. Once you have mastered that, make just one more (make sure each one is sustainable) and keep doing it. This ends up snowballing into a huge amount of change in five years time but just by making one small change at a time. People overestimate what they can do in a day and underestimate with they can do in a year.

Kayak fishing, riding bikes with the kids and stand up paddleboarding
I’ve also been doing crossfit three days a week and I make sure I do something each day. Incidental fitness is key – One of my favourite things to do is play follow the leader with the kids at the playground. The kids try and make it hard for me to follow them, they think its hysterical. Its fun for them and me, and its also a great workout!
